We are expecially interested in hearing from you, if you live close to Ghent, Antwerp, Brugge or even come from Holland.
Børneloppen is a circular concept that started in Denmark in 2016. Two mothers - Johanna and Sofie - wanted to make it easier for families to buy and sell secondhand. Our concept has grown into 14 stores, but we only just got started! We can provide you with best practise from 14 stores, the best it-system in the industry and great business opportunites. Børneloppen is now ready to expand with new stores, and we are looking for Franchisées in new cities and markets!
The investment needed is dependable on the local price level in your country. In Denmark, we roughly say a new Børneloppen store costs appr. 1 mio Dkk (140.000 eur) to open, but it´s good to remember Denmark is one of the most expensive countries in Europe! The investment is also dependent on the condition of the specific lease.
As franchisee you own your own company - so it´s totally up to you! The harder you work on your marketing and customer service, the more money you will also make. Most stores will alredy make profit from year one, and during the first years we expect 20% yearly increase in your turnover.
Børneloppen is already an established brand in Denmark and becoming very popular in Liége area. But when starting at new cities, YOU will make all the difference in the beginning. Our franchisees are active on social media, and you will also be a front figure on our marketing platforms - together with your employees. Actually, marketing is a huge part of everyday life in Børneloppen, and our activity on social media is much more aggressive than in typical retail concepts. We expect you to become Social Media Marketing Champion, because good marketing attracks customers into the store. But don´t worry: if you are not a Social Media Super User yet, we will help you! With experience from 14 stores, we have collected a lot of best practise and ready-to-implement-plans to get you started!
It´s absolutely an advantage to live in the area close to your Børneloppen store - beeing self-employed can be hard work, and spending hours on transport doesn´t make your business any better! Børneloppen is a volume business, and therefore it is optimal to place the store near a bigger city. We can help you to analyze the market potential in the areas you are looking at. A good location is easy to access by car and public transport, and free parking is absolutely a plus!

The first step is to contact us by email (franchise@boerneloppen.dk), and we can take a short online meeting. The next step is a economy meeting (we meet face-to-face, if possible), where we take a look at the budget and economy model of Børneloppen. As you will get access to confidential information, we will ask you to sign a non-disclosure-agreement (NDA). After our economy meeting, we will send you the budget, and your task is now to make a local budget and a business plan, assisted by us. The next step will be 2 days OJE (on the job experience) in Copenhagen. Now we´re getting serious! You get to experience the everyday life at Børneloppen - from customer service to marketing tasks. If both parties wish to continue the journey after OJE, we will present you to the franchise contract, and start actively looking for the location for the store. Before the Grand Opening, we will train you for one month and teach you EVERYTHING need to know about Børneloppen.
We guide you in finding and selecting the perfect store for your business. You are the local expert, and we know what location works for Børneloppen! What we are looking for is 600-700 m2, has free parking and good connections to public transportation. We will help you from A to Z: from choosing the right place to getting ready for the Grand Opening!

My Børneloppen/Mon Børneloppen is Børneloppen's IT system which manages your daily operations. It is a complete system with online bookings, checkout system, price tags, customer login, environmental calculator (water and C02 savings) and sales reporting. Our stand tenants have their own login to My Børneloppen, and they can continuously add more price tags and follow their sales online. There are automated e-mails to stand tenants, and the website collects subscriptions to newsletters. As a franchisee, you can always keep up with the store's key revenue figures - and you can compare your own figures with other Børneloppen stores in real time. Mit Børneloppen gets several updates every year - and we have two main principles in our IT development: it must be easy to use, and automated processes must ensure that you minimize your time on administrative tasks. Pssst! We have a secret: we have launched a Børneloppen App in Denmark, and the app is coming to Belgium very soon!
Sustainability is one of the biggest trends at the moment - a long-term mega trend supporting Børneloppens growth potential. In addition, inflation is pressuring families to focus on cheap alternatives to childrens items. In other words, NOW is the perfect time to open a Børneloppen-store - we have both long-term (sustainability) and short-term (inflation) trends boosting our business. So, what are you waiting for?
